Allison and Alex
Alex’s proposal to Allison was a perfect foreshadowing to their wedding day. He proposed on a romantic snowy Christmas Eve in 2014 at their home over an unforgettable chef-inspired meal by candlelight accompanied with her favourite red wine.
Their wedding day proceeded as a dreamy winter wonderland in January 2016, accented with endless candles and deep red roses, burgundy bridesmaid dresses and the most delicious food and wines to match. They chose the Ivy Lea Club as their venue located in the 1000 Islands because they loved the idea of a romantic weekend getaway where they could enjoy the company of all their friends and family. The ceremony took place in the second floor loft, which featured vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the stunning backdrop of the Saint Lawrence River at sunset. The reception was held on the main floor, which featured gorgeous iron chandeliers, a large dancefloor surrounded by stone fireplaces and warm mahogany accents.
January 9, 2016 was recorded as one of the warmest days that month, which made for perfect outdoor photos, as you will see in this portfolio. Alex looked so handsome in his charcoal grey suit and Allison looked stunning and timeless in an elegant wedding dress emphasized with lace and crystal accents. She was simply radiating with beauty from the joy and excitement of the day.
Allison had a very clear vision of what she wanted in terms of florals and décor. She envisioned rich burgundy roses, blush and pearl accents with a touch of lace and of course plenty of candles. Allison also included personal homemade touches to the décor, which included hand-sewn table runners made by her mom and hand-carved birch table number holders made by a close friend. I can still remember the looks on Allison and Alex’s faces when they saw everything come together so perfectly on their wedding day. This moment is always such a precious one for me!
I am so happy to have been a part of this day, working with Allison and Alex was always a lot of fun and usually involved a glass of wine. I told Allison she wins the prize for most organized bride to date!
Special thank you to Anne-Marie Bouchard of AMBPhoto, who even though was very pregnant at the time, captured this wedding so beautifully that it was published in Wedding Bells Magazine Fall/Winter 2016.
